“The Safer Parking Initiative was developed in response the growing problem of property crime and public disorder in Vancouver,“ said Colin Brown, Chief Operating Officer of Canadian Direct Insurance and spokesperson for the Vancouver Safer Parking Initiative. “Like other SPI partners we have an interest in reducing auto break-ins and improving the safety of parking lots for the benefit of the public. We believe the SPI will lead to increased public use of parking facilities, which will promote increased revenues for businesses that depend on customers and employees who drive to work, shop or use services in downtown Vancouver.”

Child safety seats, property installed and used, save children’s lives. Proper use of a child safety seat can reduce fatal injury by 71 percent for infants and 54 percent for toddlers. Motor vehicle crashes remain the leading cause of unintentional injury-related death among children ages 14 and under. Child safety seats and safety belts, when installed and used correctly, can prevent injuries and save lives. Unrestrained children are more likely to be injured, suffer sever injuries and die in motor vehicle crashes than children who are restrained.
75% of motor vehicle crashes occur within 25 miles of home. In addition, 60% of crashes occur on roads with posted speed limits of 40 mph or less. Our coordinator has been trained by the BCAA Traffic Safety Foundation as a Car Seat Technician who will inspect your child's car seat to insure proper installation and safety for your child. He will also provide information to the parent(s) on how to properly install a car seat, how to secure their child in the seat, and when to upgrade the seat for their growing child.
Please stop by our office or contact childseat@wechcpc.com for more information and to set an appointment.
The West End - Coal Harbour Community Policing Centre is a non-profit organization. We are core funded by the City of Vancouver, but our expenses reach far beyond the "core" funding we receive. Without the support of the community, fundraising, and donations, our office wouldn't be where it is today. If you would like to sponsor or donate to our organization, please contact info@wechcpc.com for more information. Your donations help us with everything from office equipment, foot and bike patrol essentials, uniforms, and the most basic necessities such as heat and power. Thank you to everyone who supports our Centre!
