CURRENT AND UPCOMING EVENTS

Community Clean Up - February 11th, 2012

Community Policing Day

In celebration of Community Policing Day on September 25th, the West End – Coal Harbour Community Policing Centre invited the public over to our office on Davie Street so they could learn about safety, crime prevention and the various services offered by the WECHCPC.  We provided demonstrations of our core programs including Speed Watch, Patrol Shifts, and Office Shifts, had a Child Find ID session for children, conducted complementary bike engraving, provided door prizes, food and fun for persons of all ages!
Our event could not have been a success without the help of the following organizations who donated services, prizes and goodies: EComm 911, BeePrepared24-7.com, Bicycle Sports Pacific, Bosley’s Pet Food Plus, Urban Animal Hospital, Wayne Gong, Cupcakes by Heather and Lori, Darren J on behalf of Safeway, MarketPlace IGA, and SuperValu.
Thank you to all who visited and participated!
WECHCPC volunteers will be partnering with the West End Clean Up group starting at 9:55am on February 11th. If you would like to join us, please meet at 9:55am at the corner of Comox and Cardero Street. You will be given gloves, garbage bags and buckets, and grasping tongs to pick up garbage. This is a rain or shine event so please dress for the weather.

Safer Parking Initiative
“The Safer Parking Initiative was developed in response the growing problem of property crime and public disorder in Vancouver,“ said Colin Brown, Chief Operating Officer of Canadian Direct Insurance and spokesperson for the Vancouver Safer Parking Initiative. “Like other SPI partners we have an interest in reducing auto break-ins and improving the safety of parking lots for the benefit of the public. We believe the SPI will lead to increased public use of parking facilities, which will promote increased revenues for businesses that depend on customers and employees who drive to work, shop or use services in downtown Vancouver.”
