The West End-Coal Harbour Community Policing Centre is committed to helping our community’s most vulnerable.  Following the 2010 Winter Olympics we launched a seasonal Homeless Outreach program, and with the help of local businesses, community groups, and residents, our aim is to combat homelessness and drug addiction in the West End and Coal Harbour neighbourhoods.

The program involved volunteer nursing students from Langara College who met with homeless people in the community and assisted them with gaining income assistance, clothing, food resources, temporary or permanent housing, detox, and more.  Local businesses set up coin boxes and helped to collect money for organizations that help people overcome homelessness and conquer drug addiction.

Be on the look out for the coin boxes in the winter of 2011.  A list of participating vendors will be available in the new year.
